Exams Revisited

Warning: This is a long, boring and complicated post. Proceed at your own risk.

This post is considered useful for:

1) Students who would like to pursue their degree (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (Honours) aka MBBS) at International Islamic University Malaysia, Kuantan Campus. You can have a glimpse into our examination system during pre-clinical years.

2) My junior (13th Batch) at IIUM Kuantan. This is like an overview for your second year's life ahead. The exams are still there, no worries :P But please be more hardworking, get higher marks than me okayy :D

3) My batchmates. We can compare marks? Yeah I know yours is way better than mine, get over yourself already! :P

Please be noted that the image below may take a longer time to load if your internet connection sucks is slow.

This is Year 1 Block 4 - the Community Medicine Block.

We learned Basic Biostatistics, Demography, Research Methodology, Epidemiology, Occupational Health, Nutrition, Family Medicine and Environmental Health.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now, since I've finished my First Professional Exam quite recently (and passed the exam), I can proceed to Year 3, starting this September. I have another 3 years ahead and a big exam - Second Professional Exam in Year 5.

I don't know what it'll be like in Clinical Years, but I really hope everything will go according to plan.

That is, I get my Medicine degree first and then get another one in Multimedia.

Oh. Fareez is short for Farizah Ramli btw, a girl okayy ;)

ps. As I've mentioned, I have no clue what this post is all about.

God, I totally need my sleep now.

Buhbye then.

From the internet.

Alteration. Not as good as the original one, though.

If I don't have to wake up for Sahur, I'd still be awake right at this time.

Note to Self

Speaking of which, I came across this: 50 Productive Things To Do To Organize Your Life

Wow. After reading that, I feel like I want to do so many things.

Here they are:

9. Organize all your digital pictures and videos online.

19. Go digital. Scan all your papers and covert them to PDF.

29. Ask yourself this question: “If I had only one year to live, how would I use the next 365 days?”. If you take time to give this a deep thought, you’ll absolutely be productive and do only the most important thing in your life every minute of your day.

37. Project Gutenberg has over 36,000 free ebooks that can be downloaded to your PC, or mobile devices. Browse their top 100 ebooks list.

41. Organize all your bookmarks online using delicious.

42. Backup your critical documents online. Dropbox offers 2GB of free online storage.

48. Even if you don’t feel like doing any of the items in this list, don’t just browse random funny videos online. Watch educational and inspiring videos at TED talks. One of these videos might give you the inspiration to do meaningful work that will keep you productive.

50. Focus only on the essentials. We have way too many projects at work and home. Some of them are essential and critical that will have a big impact. But most of them are useless and we just do it thinking those are critical. If you want to be productive, you should focus only on the high impact essential projects that will enhance your life (and the life of everybody around you). You should focus on simplifying your life. Once you pair it down to the essentials, you’ll love life and every body around you, and you’ll be extremely productive and happy in both work and personal life.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Note to self: The most important thing is, I must not forget Allah in every step of the way. During this month of Ramadhan, I must try harder to become a better Muslim.

Pavlova: The Sugar Rush

Yesterday I made Pavlova. It is a traditional Australian and New Zealand dessert dish. I got the recipe from here. It's very useful, since the blogger provided step-by-step tutorial on how to make it. Or you can check out WikiHow.

Surprise, surprise, it is actually very easy to make Pavlova.

That was my first attempt to make Pavlova, so forgive me for the messy shape of the sweet cake. I did not have enough whipping cream to cover the whole cake, hence the visible holes here and there. But the taste is pretty awesome. A bit sweet, though.

I know you can Google the recipe easily, but I still wanna write it down :D

What you need are:
+ 4 eggs (the white portion)
+ 2/3 cup of castor sugar
+ 1 tbsp corn flour
+ 1 tsp vanilla essence
+ 1 tsp cooking vinegar

For the toppings:
+ 250ml/1 cup of non-dairy whipped cream
+ Fresh fruits

How to make it:

1) Preheat your oven to 150'C (use fire below only)

2) Use maximum speed to whisk the egg whites until they are soft and fluffy.

 3) Add castor sugar slowly, one spoon at a time. Don't stop whisking.

4) You know the meringue is ready when it does not drip when you turn the bowl upside down. This is how you make icing on cake!

5) Add corn flour, vanilla essence and vinegar into the batter.

6) Spoon the mixture onto a baking paper placed on the oven tray. You have to make an indented hollow in the centre so that you can put your toppings there.

7) I made two-layered Pavlova. You can make it into one, it's totally up to you. Change your oven temperature to 110'C and put them in. Wait for 1 hour and 15 minutes.

8) Now we make the toppings. Whip the cream until it forms soft peaks. It means that it is not in the liquid state, it must look creamy. If you buy the Anchor brand of whipped cream, you have to whisk it for quite a long time, I did it for like 20 minutes or so.

9) Cut your fresh fruits. When the Pavlova is ready, you have to leave it in the oven for 10 minutes to cool it down before you add the toppings.

10) Only then you remove the cooled Pavlova and put the whipped cream and the fruits.

11) Put it in the fridge and you can eat it when it is time to break your fast! :D

Pretty easy, right? Happy baking!

Half-eaten.

Is WoW Really A Wow?

Nope. I don't think so. From my point of view, I have to say that World of Warcraft (WoW), the oh-so-famous and the best Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game (MMORPG) is definitely not my thing. I do love the graphics though, but I got bored real quick after I played for like, five consecutive days in a row.

Before you jump into the conclusion That's-because-this-girl-doesn't-know-how-to-play-the-game, let me say to you that I do know how to play alright! Well, after I had to go through the tutorial and read the explanations here and there, of course I know how to get the quests done, fight the monsters blah blah blah. I am no doubt a noob in this game, but I am a fast learner, okay.

Now we have cleared that up, let's have the proper story now. Last week, I had the chance to play WoW: Cataclysm after it took about a day to complete the installation process. I started out as a female Human, a Mage named Flagyl. Yeah yeah Metronidazole, I know. I forgot what I chose for my profession and secondary skills, though. I joined the Normal Realm.

And there I was, walking around in a new world, talking to strangers, fighting the creatures as requested, sending out letters, fighting monsters, searching for missing soldiers, fighting again, putting out fires, fighting again.. and again and again. At some point, I was like, Cool! I have superpowers. I can throw fire at the enemies. I can defend myself by using magic!

But there were also times when two monsters suddenly attacked me out of nowhere, and I was scared as hell. I pressed the arrow button so hard so that my character walked away from them as fast as possible. But it was too late. I died.

I woke up in a cemetery just to find a ghost or an angel (whatever you call it) floating above me, giving me the option to be resurrected as a human again. I accepted. Now I am alive again, isn't is wonderful?

So I traced my path back to where I left my unfinished business - to fight the monsters. You see, as this game is set in a fantasy world, that explains the many different creatures living in it. And there were spiders too. God I hate spiders!!

At Level 8, I got tired of fighting. And I lost count of the times where I had to wake up to face the ghost/angel at the cemetery again. So I made a new character. A Night Elf, a Druid named Cyanidea. I was impressed to see the beautiful world of the Night Elves. And as a Druid, you can change forms and can heal others too. But the game concept is still the same. You have to fight the creatures and go on quests as usual. I stopped at Level 8 when the server suddenly went offline.

So I had to change server and created a new character. This time I went as a Gnome, a Rogue named Heparyn. It was tiny, and cute too. The world was so small and I had to fight creatures way bigger than me. Luckily I was a Rogue and I can be invisible. I can sneak up to the monster and attack it from behind. I had a sharp dagger and a sword, too. Cool, eh? :D

I played Gnome until level 9 where the boredom began. I think that's because of the fighting. Ah, the frequent battle against the monsters. A total turn-off for me.

In a nutshell, I like living in the Sims World better than Azeroth. It is more fun and peaceful.

No fighting at all.

Wacom Bamboo Fun?

And that explains the messiness of the above drawing.
That was my first Genius Drawing Tablet :(
It was worth RM200, I bought it in Subang Parade :(
This was the post I wrote about it :(

I should buy a new Pen for the Tablet. But, on second thought...

...I want this for a change! Well, to be exact, I want the Wacom Bamboo Fun G3 (Pen & Touch) CTH-670!

Ask me about the price. See here

Pretty expensive, eh? I wonder if my Dad agrees to split 50/50 with me. I'll ask him later.

Oh. I think I've got some money left in the bank. I better go check now.

Toodles. And wish me luck.

We pass the Exam! :D

Mood: Happy I guess? :D

Got a call from my friend, Yun. All of us pass the Professional Exam!! And that means, we can all proceed to our Clinical Year, Third Year this September! Yayy!! :D

Well, to be exact, all sisters pass the exam. One brother fail.

Oh. And 4 of us got Distinction. That was like A++++ :D Zulaikha, Faqih, Hanani and Farisham. 2 brothers and 2 sisters. Well done guys! :D :D

Credit to Kak Lini for the image. Don't bother looking for my name. I'm not in the Top 30.

Out of 128 Medical students of 14th Batch (Zenith) IIUM Kuantan, I am placed at Number 73. Not bad, I guess. Of course I'm very grateful cuz I believe I can do a lot worse than that. My two best friends are no doubt better than me. 'Ayunni is at 63th and Shukriah is Number 33!

33, 63 and 73, how cool is that! :D :D :D

So proud of them! They really deserve that for all the hard work they had put for these past few months. Not to say that I did not put my best effort into the exam, but well... how to say... well, enough said about that.

Change of topic. Now what's the plan for this two months of holiday? Hmmm.. let's see.

Here's what I have in mind.

1. Read The Hobbit & The Fellowship of The Ring
2. Watch Two & A Half Men until Season 9
3. Take Adobe classes at Kolej Komuniti
4. Learn new recipes (Pavlova is on top of the list!)
5. Do Adobe stuffs
6. Plant new flowers and herbs, maybe
7. Sorting and deleting files in Laptop & Hard Disk
8. Update blog and YouTube videos
9. Update my Portfolio :D

And the list goes on and on and on.... I wonder how many of those I'll be able to complete before September. Hmm. Let's take one step at a time, shall we? :D
